The first time I heard Bye Beneco was at wolves, and it sucked because the crowd kept talking over them. The second time I heard Bye Beneco was on Soundcloud and that didn’t suck one bit.
If you haven’t heard BB before I suggest listening to this song while you read the rest of the post.
The band is made up of four wonderful humans, all of who look like they’ve just stepped off the Further:
Lenny-Dee on lead vocals, keys, and guitar.
Jenny on vocals, keys, and percussion.
Bergen on drums and guitar.
Matthew on guitar and drums.
Their name comes from a surreal place where the unconscious mind meets reality…see I told you they had Ken Kesey written all over them.
When the band heard that Crystal Fighters, MGMT and The Presets were coming to South Africa they figured that their sound would be amazing as an opening act, hands up if you agree.
If you want to year more Bye Beneco goodness vote for them to Open The City by SMSing “BYE BENECO” to 48477 or vote here.
I’m also giving away tickets to VITC so head on over to my Facebook Page or Instagram account to enter!
Evita Bezuidenhout, Nataniël and Kurt Darren are without a doubt some of South Africa’s best performers…but they ain’t got shit on Desmond and the Flipping Tutus.
Desmond’s music has always been great but their new songs have had me dancing around and possibly causing a few accidents on the way to work. They boys have been hard at work for what seems like an age and will be releasing their album in three parts, you can order it off iTunes here.
Desmond has also been working hard at coming up with some pretty crazy short videos to promote their album…on this one they go on a camping trip.
So proud of you guys and your old faces!
Yesterday Park Acoustics celebrated their 4th birthday in style by hosting St. Lucia, and my lovely Craig treated me by buying a ticket (thanks Craig!).
St. Lucia have been one of my favourite acts for a while but I really didn’t expect for them to be THAT AMAZING. Here are a few pictures I took…I suggest listening to the song below while you are looking at them if you need a pickmeup!
And here is an extra little goodie for you to listen to!
For the past few weeks the handsome Yo Grapes has been ignoring me because he was hard at work making a remix for Shorstraw’s song Bikini Weather…but now it’s done so I get to dance around with him to it.
Seriously it’s one of the best remixes ever!
Hi there…I’m back.
If there was a blogging hell I would go to it for being so terrible at updating mine for the past month. I do however have a really good excuse…I promise. Holiday! I’ve been on holiday.
This year I was fortunate to join the Puma Happy Holiday Tour with Desmond and a bunch of really awesome bands including Shortstraw, my new favourite Beach Party and all-time favourite Gateway Drugs and a bunch of other super awesome people!
There’s one more date left on the Joburg leg of the tour this Friday at Rumours so pull on in!
Here are a few picks from the tour…for more check out the pumahappyholiday hashtag.
November seems to be the month of music videos! A few weeks ago Craig came home with possibly the worst sunburn I’ve ever seen after spending the day rapping on a rooftop in his swimming costume for his rap group Special Guests.
We Are Awesome shot the video on a Nokia Lumia 1020 for one of their recent campaigns.
Music Video by WAA Film
Directed by Andrew Berry

Shane designed this awesome album cover for Yo Grapes
For the past 12 weeks Craig/Yo Grapes has been releasing a song once a week to make his album Grape Juice. Last week the super talented Hanro Havenga shot the music video for December and I got to laugh as Craig acted like a crazy person dancing around Illovo and throwing bread on the floor.
Hanro shot the music video in one continuous shot, which was pretty cool! Check it out:
Here’s the first video Craig did featuring yours truly doing weird things:
